Sev Ohanian has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture as a producer of SINNERS, alongside fellow producers Ryan Coogler and Zinzi Coogler.
SINNERS has also made Oscar history, becoming the most-nominated film of all time with 16 nominations. The previous record— 14 nominations— was held by ALL ABOUT EVE, TITANIC, and LA LA LAND. The film has emerged as one of the year’s most celebrated films, grossing approximately $368 million worldwide while earning numerous nominations and wins from major industry guilds and organizations.
Sev Ohanian’s nomination marks a historic milestone, making him the first Armenian-American ever nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and only the second Armenian, following British-Armenian producer Tanya Seghatchian, who received a nomination in 2022 for THE POWER OF THE DOG. The moment represents a major breakthrough for Armenian representation at the highest level of global cinema.
The Armenian Film Society, in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures and Gold House, hosted the Los Angeles premiere of SINNERS in IMAX in April 2025.
The 2026 Academy Awards will be held on March 15, 2026 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.AFS
