Armenian composer Hovik Sardaryan has been awarded the 2026 Ernst von Siemens Composer Prize by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, one of the most prestigious international honors for contemporary composers!
The 32-year-old, originally from Artsakh, has become the first Armenian to receive this distinction. He was recognized for his significant contributions to contemporary composition and for developing a distinctive musical language, polymonody, characterized by microtonality and complex melodic structures.
Hovik is a multi-AGBU Performing Arts scholarship recipient and the 2015 winner of our Sayat Nova Competition. It is amazing to see his progress over the last decade as he takes home the “Nobel Prize of Music.”
