The first Armenian woman to be running for a political seat in the upcoming Canadian Federal Elections. Anna Simonyan was selected to represent the Ahuntsic-Cartierville riding in Montreal and therefore became the first Armenian woman to obtain the privilege to try to gain a political seat in Canada.
Miss Simonyan is running under the Bloc Quebecois banner and becomes the second Armenian to run for the party and overall the third Armenian since 1867 to run for office in Canada.
Anna Simonyan’s mission is to represent the people of her riding but issues such as the creation of a Canadian embassy in Armenia as well as to find out the truth about weapons sales from Canada to Turkey and Azerbaijan that played a decisive role in last year’s war.
