Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old congressional intern from Massachusetts, was killed Monday night in a targeted shooting in Northwest Washington, D.C., though he was not the intended target. A rising senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he had been interning for Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kan.) since June.
The shooting occurred around 10:28 p.m. when suspects opened fire from a vehicle, injuring three people. Tarpinian-Jachym died the next day from his injuries. Rep. Estes expressed condolences, remembering Eric’s kindness and dedication. Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
