The 2026 Rossini Opera Festival sees the return of the ROF Talks. Hosted by Radio Rai journalist Susanna Franchi, the series will take place from 11 to 13 August at 12 noon in the Sala della Repubblica at Teatro Rossini. Admission is free. The format combines presentations of the evening’s operas with an opening session devoted to insights into the Festival and the world of opera.
On Tuesday 11 August, the event entitled Oggi è il giorno del gran viaggio will mark the official opening of the 2026 Festival in the presence of regional and national authorities. Conductor Carlo Rizzi and stage director Davide Livermore will then introduce Le Siège de Corinthe, to be performed that evening at the Auditorium Scavolini.
On Wednesday 12 August, the event L’opere più squisite d’autori prelibati will feature the presentation of the programme for the 2027 Festival. The talk will continue with conductor Alessandro Bonato and stage director Sonja Frisell discussing the staging of L’occasione fa il ladro, which will be presented that evening at Teatro Rossini.
On Thursday 13 August, the event entitled Una voce poco fa will focus on opera academies, exploring the relationship between tradition and innovation. Joining Ernesto Palacio, Intendant of the Rossini Opera Festival and Director of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”, will be Evamaria Wieser, Head of the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, and Francesco Izzo, Director of the Accademia Verdiana in Parma. The programme will conclude with conductor Iván López-Reynoso and stage director Damiano Michieletto presenting La scala di seta, which will be performed that evening at Teatro Rossini.
