The Sevan Startup Summit 2026, taking place from 26 July to 1 August in Armenia, has marked ten years since the first tent-camp startup festival took place on the shores of Lake Sevan.
Gathering over 2,000 founders, investors, mentors, and innovators from more than 50 countries, this year’s week-long summit became a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities.
During the event, Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Armenia, said the European Union supported the initiative because of its significant contribution to Armenia’s innovation ecosystem and its role in empowering young entrepreneurs in Armenia and beyond.
“As a small, open economy with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Armenia must continue to compete globally with high-quality, differentiated products. To do so, investing in education, IT, innovation, and research is essential,” said Hess.
The EU has also supported Armenia through the EU4Sevan project, which aimed to enhance environmental protection and water quality in Lake Sevan by improving water monitoring and management capacities, implementing ecosystem-friendly land-use practices, enhancing wastewater treatment capabilities, raising awareness among stakeholders, and further improving the governance of the Lake Sevan ecosystem.
