Since 2008, InteriorDAsein has regularly presented Armenian visual art and now houses a
collection of canvases and works on paper bynumerousartists of Armenian descent. The
exhibition “Aspects of Armenian Painting. From Ivan Aivazovsky to Narine Zolyan” shows works
from the period 1860 to thepresent dayfrom theproject space’s collection as well as on loan
from Berlin collections. The exhibition invites discussion about the orientations and
developments in thepainting of a cultural nation that has been fighting for its survival since
ancient times and has hadto accept expulsion and life in the diaspora once again inrecent years.

The exhibition features paintings and works on paper by artists who havehad a significant
influence on Armenian visual art:
Ivan Aivazovsky (1817–1900), Hakob Kodjojan (1883–1959), Gohar Fermanjan (1899–1958),
Mariam Aslamazyan(1907-2006), MherAbegyan (1909-1994), Tigran Tokmajyan (1923-2004),
Petros Malayan (1927-1997), Gayane Khachaturyan (1942-2009) and others
as well as works bycontemporary artists:
SedaBekaryan (1953-), Narine Zolyan (1957-), Narek Avetisyan (1969-) and others
